Bengaluru: The North-east division of the city police on Wednesday nabbed two aides of Rohith and Sunil who allegedly threatened Tata Ramesh, a city-based businessman last Saturday.
The police have identified the two as Vijay alias Lakkasandra Viji, a history-sheeter, and Kumar alias Cable Kumar. The car they were travelling in and weapons, including knives and machetes, have been seized.
Based on information provided by Rohith, a special police team tracked the movements of Vijay and Kumar. “We received information that they near the GKVK campus in Yelahanka police station limits on Wednesday night and gave chase. We managed to intercept them,” said a senior police officer. They added that former don Agni Sridhar, whose house they had raided in connection with the case, was still in hospital.
Senior officers said they were questioning the duo to see if they had any role in the threat and shooting case at Kogilu Cross last week in which Kadabagere Srinivas, Dasanapura APMC president, and his driver were injured. Srinivas has recovered and the police are awaiting the doctor’s nod to question him.
There were rumours about four others being picked up in connection with the shooting, but the police have refuted them.
The police have arrested Satish, a local leader and close aide of Yelahanka MLA S.R. Vishwanath, who had political differences with Srinivas. Mr. Vishwanath clarified that though Satish was his friend, he had nothing to do with the shooting. “I am ready for a probe to prove my innocence,” he said.
