Director Hari’s Saamy that released in 2003 was a landmark film in Trisha’s career. Saamy catapulted Trisha to the A-league of actors, and post its release, there was no turning back for the star. She went on to work in films with leading actors in both Tamil and Telugu.
13 years after Saamy, in 2016, director Hari announced that he was wielding the megaphone for a sequel to the 2003 film, titled Saamy Square.
A few weeks after the announcement, the team confirmed that the lead pair, Vikram and Trisha, were being retained in the sequel. Also, Keerthy Suresh was brought on board as one of the female leads. However, months later, Trisha announced on Twitter that she had opted out of the project citing creative differences.
It was rumoured that Keerthy Suresh’s character in the film had more screen-time than Trisha’s character.
During a recent media interaction, however, director Hari stated that Trisha and Keerthy Suresh are the heroines of Saamy Square. It is being speculated that the actress has reconciled her differences with the team.
When IndiaToday.in contacted Trisha’s mother Uma Krishnan, she said she was not aware of this.
“No, that’s not the case. Nobody from the team has spoken to us regarding this. We will definitely have a word with the Saamy Square team and get back on this,” she revealed.
Also, producer Shibu Thameens told us that he would need some time to clarify about Trisha’s inclusion in the team.
Trisha played Vikram’s wife in Saamy and her character was expected to appear in the flashback portions in Saamy Square too.
Currently, Vikram is shooting for the film in Thirunelveli.
At the media interaction, Hari said, “There are four action blocks, five songs and two chase sequences in the movie. We will shoot here for a week and are expecting to wrap up the movie by the end of February or mid-March.”
Produced by Shibu Thameens, Saamy Square is eyeing a Ramzan release, which falls on June 14. Bobby Simhaa, John Vijay, OAK Sundar, Prabhu, Kota Srinivasa Rao and Soori will be seen in significant roles. Devi Sri Prasad has been roped in to score the music for the film.
