Karnataka’s proud luxury train, the Golden Chariot, will resume its journey. Luxury train traffic is currently halted due to the loss. In September 2018, the Golden Chariot was in the process of restarting traffic. The train will be moving on the new design in a few days. Railway Minister Suresh Storey tweeted this.
The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) is in charge of the Golden Chariot Railway Service. However, rail traffic was canceled a few years ago due to the loss.
KSTDC has run the Golden Chariot Train for 10 years. However, when the loss was more than profit, the rail service was cut off. All attempts to bring the train to profit have also failed.
Railways Minister Suresh Kapoor tweeted about the reopening of the Golden Chariot train. Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) and Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will join hands to launch the rail service. Both firms will sign the agreement on Tuesday.
The Golden Chariot has been in traffic for 10 years. The Mulpe Group of Hotels has been awarded a tender overseeing the rail infrastructure. It ended in September 2018. After that, train traffic was halted.
Changes in the design of the Golden Chariot are launched. However, it does not discontinue any luxury services on the train. The bar, hotel, gym, spa service is as usual.
40 crores in 10 years due to the luxury train of 18 bogies. So, the train service was stalled. The IRCTC is now restarting the service.
