Student ambassadors take the lead to create Clean Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Political Action Committee (B.PAC) in association with Shell MRPL Aviation Fuels & Services Ltd hosted the Green Ambassador Program valedictory ceremony at Goodwill Christian College, Frazer Town, Bengaluru.

Through the program, the students have undergone six hours of classroom session on Bengaluru’s history, urban governance, theory and principles of waste management, water conservation and related law, rules & regulation.

Further, the students applied the same knowledge to conduct the field activities such as door-to-door awareness on waste segregation, cleanup drives and waste to resource fund raising activities. The students were supported by B.PAC’s B.CLIP (Civic Leadership Incubator Program) leaders Sampath C, Jyothi Chowdhary, Joel Samuel, Nafeesa, Eswarappa, Kaveri Kedarnath and others. All these activities have been collaboratively implemented with support of elected representatives Mr. Akhanda Srinivas Murthy, MLA Pulakheshinagar; Mrs Deepa Nagesh, Corporator, Sriramanadira Ward, Mr. Bhadhre Gowda, Corporator, Nagapura Ward; Mr. Umesh Shetty Corporator, Govindrajnagar Ward  and BBMP.  Further, all the registered ten colleges are working to make their campus a source of zero waste. The measures such as waste segregation and use of reusable cutlery have been initiated in the campuses.

During the program, the students were awarded with certificates. The Colleges and college coordinators were felicitated and pledged to make their campus a source of zero waste.

Further, the college students shall undergo training program to conduct the same program in Government schools and bring more awareness about water conservation and waste management.

During the launch, Revathy Ashok said “The city needs more number of environmental leaders and Green Ambassadors shall be tomorrow’s environmental leaders and work with the elected representatives and community to transform the city”.

Konduri Lakshminarayana appreciated the student’s efforts and urged them to take the program to more number of schools across Bengaluru.
