Bidar: Minister of State for Municipal Administration Eshwar B. Khandre has mooted a plan to send pourakarmikas on foreign tours to study how developed countries kept their cities clean.
The State government will send around 1,000 pourakarmikas on foreign tours, the Minister said here on Friday. He was speaking after being felicitated by the Municipal Administration Department staff.
He said senior officers of the department would share details of the programmes with them later.
Khandre said the State government has taken many steps for the welfare of pourakarmikas.
“We have begun regularising their services. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will take a final decision on the process of regularisation at a meeting in Bengaluru on February 3. We have increased their wages to Rs. 16,000 a month,” he said.
A report about sanctioning funds for a comprehensive solid waste management is pending before the state government.
The government has also increased honorarium to urban local body members and is considering hiking it further,” he said.
