Sidharth Malhotra is gearing up for his next, Marjaavaan, alongside Tara Sutaria, Ritiesh Deshmukh, and Rakul Preet Singh. The film, directed by Milap Zaveri, is all set to hit silver screens on 15th November 2019. The makers and cast claim that the tragic love story embodies the flavor of the 80s and 90s as far as its drama, dialogues, action, and larger-than-life characters go. Recently, Sidharth sat down and got candid about various things.
Sidharth’s role is inspired by heroes from the 80s and 90s, including megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s character from Deewar. Speaking about it, Sidharth said that he grew up watching Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, and Sunny Deol. Before watching Deewar, Sidharth had a chance to watch Big B’s Hum, which had a huge impact on him. Then six, Sidharth thought the villain’s name, Bakhtawar, was a cuss word. He revealed that he used to call his cousins by the name, thinking that it was a “gaali”.
The actor also revealed that he plans to cater to a larger and a pan-India audience, with his upcoming films like Marjaavaan and SherShaah. He added that he’d have loved to produce the latter, which is a biopic of Kargil martyr Vikram Batra, since he worked on it for two-and-a-half years. In the next five years, along with challenging himself as an actor, Sidharth aspires to set up his own production company soon.
When quizzed about the same, the actor said, “I’d like to spin a superhero franchise and act in it, too. I’m a big fan of the Marvel series. This is one genre that intrigues me, more so because we have so much existing material in our country’s mythology.”
