Mysuru : Former Karnataka chief minister and senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah was caught on tape losing his cool at a woman during a public meeting in Mysuru.
In a short clip, Siddaramaiah is seen getting angry at the woman who is confronting him during a conversation.
As the woman, who was sitting on a chair with a microphone in her hand, stands up to make her point, Siddaramiah also gets up in a fit of rage and shouts at her, forcing her with his hands to sit down.
He is then seen snatching the mic from the hand of the woman, who continues making her point.
Shortly after the incident, KPCC chief Dinesh Gundu Rao came out in defence of the former Karnataka chief minister, saying that Siddaramaiah was forced to snatch the mic since the woman was asking questions in a rough way.
“Sometimes when people start asking questions in a rough way and after hearing them out when they don’t stop, you want to pull the mic. While pulling the mic, the dupatta also came along with it. There was no such intention,” Rao was quoted as saying by news agency.
Meanwhile, the BJP hit out at the Congress and asked party chief Rahul Gandhi to reveal what action he will take against Siddaramaiah.
“This is a crime, the way he abused her. That’s how they (Congress) see women, they haven’t changed since the tandoor case. They only respect women from one family,” Union minister Prakash Javadekar said at a press conference.
