Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said the state government would consider providing vehicles with toilet facility to Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) for the benefit of women police constables. If this proposal becomes a reality, it will help women battalion of KSRP while travelling from one city to the other during emergency.
Speaking after flagging off 102 KSRTC buses with modern facilities at function held at Vidhana Soudha here, Chief Minister Siddarmaiah said called upon the police to strive hard to prevent the crime if it is difficult to ensure crime-free society and the police should facilitate people respect law. “The police should meet people’s expectations. They have to maintain law and order and prevent the crime,’’ the chief minister said.
He said the state government has taken measures to give Rs 2,000 conveyance per month to the police and also facilitating time-bound promotions to them. “Our government has provided many facilities to the police. The state government has provided canteen facility to the police. They also get Rs 1,000 for medical checkup. The government has opened two schools for the children of police in Bengaluru and Mysuru. The standard of education at these schools is on par with CBSE schools. The government will take measures to open similar schools at other cities in the state,’’ he said.
He said the government has already provided 300 patrol vehicles the police and 100 Innova vehicles for patrolling on highways. “These vehicles will be immense help for police to reach the accident spots without delay. The police department needs modern vehicles to prevent the crime. The government will provide 200 more vehicles to the police shortly. The police are working under tremendous pressure and it is the responsibility of the government to provide amenities and facilities for them. The government has provided many facilities to the police with an objective of making them work efficiently,’’ he said.
