India on Thursday remembered King Maharana Pratap, one of the greatest warriors of the country, on the occasion of his 479th Birth Anniversary. Maharana Pratap Jayanti, which falls on the third day of the Jyeshtha Shukla phase, celebrates the achievements of the mighty king of Mewar, a region in Rajasthan of North-western India. The legendary king, who is known for his bravery, honour and patriotism, started the first war for India’s independence. Maharana fought alongside Akbar, one of the most famous Mughal Emperors, in the battle of Haldighati. Though Maharana Pratap had to make an escape at the end of the battle, he managed to kill many of his opponents during the intense battle that lasted for nearly 4 hours.
