Police constable attacked by youth

A police constable was attacked by a group of 10 men after he objected to them smoking in front of his house. The victim is Timmana Goud, a constable at the Whitefield traffic police station. The incident occurred in Panathur.

The constable was returning home around 10.30 pm after finishing duty when he saw two youths seated on a scooter smoking in front of his house. He onjected to this and asked them why they were smoking there, the youths retorted asking who he was to question them. Heated arguments ensued and the youths held the policeman by his collar, threatening him with dire consequences. Thereafter they left the spot.

At around 11 pm, the two youths returned with eight others and waited in front of Goud’s house. As he came out, the gang assaulted him. The assault caused the victim to fall unconscious. His family members informed the Marathahalli police. 10 men were detained and interrogated. The accused has been booked under IPC section 353 – assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty.
