Railway staff spotted what looked like a grenade lying near the trolley pathway on Platform 1 here at the KSR Railway Station triggering immediate panic. Railway Security Control officials said the object was spotted at around 8:45 am on Friday morning.
The Railway Protection Force immediately cordoned off the area, and Senior Railway Officers including Divisional Railway Manager/Bengaluru reached the spot. The Divisional Security Commissioner led a team of Railway Security force who thoroughly searched the entire premises of the station including trains. Train movement on Platforms 1 and 2 were suspended during the search.
The supposed grenade was handed over to Bomb Disposal Squad at around 9.55 am. After thorough checking, trains resumed operations on both the affected platforms. Railway workforce has been put on alert. Intensive checks at the entrances, platforms, train coaches and at parcel office are being conducted, stated a release from the Southwestern Railways.
The railway staff who found the grenade informed his seniors who in turn alerted the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) along with the local police with RPF personnel who rushed to the spot and cordoned the area. The BDDS has secured the suspicious object and it has reportedly been found to be a dummy grenade.

In addition a beeping sound was reported by passengers onboard the Sanghamitra Express, triggering further panic but upon examination it was found to be a defective CCTV camera emitting the noise.
