More than 50 percent tribals attracted due to Special polling booth

The Special Polling booths set up in tribal areas has attracted more than 50 percent Tribal voters in Nagpur tribal belt in Nagarahole National Park area coming under Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency where the first phase of polling held in Karnataka today.

After success in the last Assembly election, the Election Commission set up ethnic booths and decorated it as a hut to attract tribal voters.

The voters were welcomed with a welcome drink, a traditional dress of Mysuru Petha, Dothi and White shirt in the booths.

All the tribal’s who have franchised their voters have been provided with saplings of various trees. The Tribals voters who turned up and exercised their franchise expressed their happiness over treating them with kindness.

Of the total 960 Tribal voters, more than 50 percent polling was reported till 1400 hrs.  In 2018 Assembly election 70 percent polling was reported.

Similar booths were also established in Periyapatna in Mysuru Lok Sabha constituency and in HD Kote assembly segment coming under Chamarajanagara (Reserve) Lok Sabha constituency.
