After showcasing her acting skills in the south industry, Nithya Menen is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Mission Mangal, which is set to hit the screens on August 15 at the box office. Despite featuring in an ensemble cast, the 31-year-old actress is quite confident that her role will get notice and even will garner appreciation from the audience. When asked about which actor in Bollywood, she would like to work in the future, she said, “I would like to Irrfan Khan.”
Well, Nithya and Irrfan will definitely make an unconventional pair. Talking about her character in Mission Mangal, she plays the character of a satellite designer named Varsha Pillai.
Mission Mangal is based on the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), or the Mangalyaan project launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in November 2013, to put a space probe in planet Mars’ orbit. It jointly-partnered by Pad Man helmer R Balki and is directed by Jagan Shakti. The film also stars Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Sharman Joshi in key roles.
Akshay earlier spilled the beans on how Mission Mangal happened and said, It just happened, he sketched out the story to me as I was leaving for a shoot of Kesari. I was bowled over but wondered how he would make it. We don’t make science films and this one was about a space mission. But I liked it enough to tell him, “We’ll make it.” He began writing it with (R) Balki sir. Then, Vidya (Balan), Sonakshi (Sinha), Taapsee (Pannu) and others came on board and we wrapped up the film in 32 days. When a film finishes without issues and negativity, it’s good karma.”
The film will clash with John Abraham and Mrunal Thakur’s Batla House at the ticket windows.
