Bengaluru: The high-level meeting convened by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday finalized Justice P Vishwanath Shetty’s name to head Karnataka Lokayukta, according to reliable sources.
The high-level committee, headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, met at Kumara Krupa Guest House on Monday and discussed the names of Justice P Vishwanath Shetty, Justice N K Patil and Justice Anandbyra Reddy for the post of Lokayukta and Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Subhro Kamal Mukherjee has given consent to the three names. “One of the three names would be recommended to Governor for appointment as Karnataka Lokayukta,’’ Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told media persons.
Apart from Siddaramaiah, who is the chairman, the high-level committee comprises of Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court S K Mukherjee, Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad, Legislative Council Chairman D H Shankaramurthy, and Leaders of the Opposition in the two Houses of the legislature Jagadish Shettar and K S Eshwarappa as its members. H D Kumaraswamy of JD(S) did not attend the meeting.
However, according sources, the state government is all set to recommend the name of Justice Vishwanath Shetty’s name for the post which has remained headless since the ignominious exit of former Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao in December 2015.
