Shahid Kapoor got the biggest hit of his career with Kabir Singh, the Hindi remake of Vijay Deverkonda’s Arjun Reddy. With the stupendous success of Kabir Singh, Shahid was on a cloud nine and was overwhelmed with the love that he received from everyone. His film with Kiara Advani crossed Rs 250 crore at the domestic box office and that is really huge. After Kabir Singh, reports suggest that Shahid Kapoor has signed the Hindi remake of a South film, Jersey, which featured Nani. Shahid will apparently soon begin filming for the same. The original producers, Dil Raju, will be bankrolling the Hindi remake as well.
And a PinkVilla report states that the producers have initiated talks with Dear Comrade actress Rashmika Mandanna to rope in her as the female lead opposite Shahid. Apparently, Shahid met the makers of Jersey for a brainstorming session and all of them thought Rashmika Mandanna would be the perfect fit for the female lead’s part.
“The producers were on the lookout for a fresh face and if Rashmika gives her nod, this will also mark her Hindi debut. She has watched Jersey and given how Kabir Singh has fared at the ticket windows, she has also expressed an interest in the Hindi remake. But the modalities and remunerations need to be finalized for now. The makers are planning to roll out the film by November this year,” a source was quoted as saying by the entertainment portal.
With the Hindi remake of Jersey, Rashmika will finally make her much talked about Bollywood debut. She was apparently offered a film with Randeep Hooda but unfortunately, things didn’t materialize. We hope this time the actress gives a nod to the makers.
