Former MLA M. Bhaktavatsalam dies

Former MLA M. Bhaktavatsalam, 70, of KGF reserved constituency passed away on Wednesday night due to cardiac arrest.

Last night, he complained of chest pain at his residence in Robertsonpet in KGF. Consequently, his family members rushed him to RL Jalappa Hospital. However, he did not respond to the treatment and breathed his last at around 11 pm. He is survived by wife, son and two daughters.

Bhaktavatsalam, who started his political career as a KGB Municipal Council member, became an MLA for the first time by contesting in the 1983 Assembly elections from AIADMK. He lost in the 1985 assembly election. He again contested from AIADMK in 1989 for the second time and became MLA and his victory repeated in 1999 as well.
