Mahesh Mallinath Bhakare, who hails from a family of farmers in Madan Hipparaga village in Aland taluk in Kalaburagi district, has topped the district in the Science stream in the II PU examination, the results of which were announced on Monday.
Bhakare has secured 587 (97.83 %) out of 600 marks. Bhakare, a student of Shree Guru Vidyapeeth PU College, scored 100 marks in Mathematics subjects and secured 98 each in Physics and Chemistry. He scored 97 marks in Biology, 99 in Kannada and 95 in English.
Besides hard work, Bhakare attributed his academic success to his family, the teachers and the institution. Bhakare said that hard work and dedication are the secrets of his achievements. Speaking about his study schedules, he said that he used to study for about five-six hours daily and completely avoided using the mobile phone.
Coming from a rural background, Bhakare studied in a Kannada-medium school at his native in Madan Hipparaga up to Standard 10. After he completed SSLC, his teacher Anandraj Patil encouraged him to choose the Science stream and to study at Shree Guru Vidyapeeth College in Kalaburagi, he added. “Bhakare worked very hard and it has paid off, ” his father Mallinath Bhakare said and thanked the school management and teachers for providing special attention towards his son’s studies.
DISHA scores 99.06 pass percentage
DISHA PU College of Science in Kalaburagi has performed well in the recently held PU examination by recording 99.06 % pass percentage. Of the 302 students who appeared for the examinations, 299 have passed.
Shilpa Mallinath emerged as the topper in the college by securing 580 marks out of 600 (96.67 %) followed by Pallavi Vivekananda who obtained 570 marks out of 600 (95 %) and G. Avinash Reddy who scored 569 out of 600 (94.83 %).
As many as 82 students recorded distinction (85 % and above). Of these students, 31 scored 90 % and more. As many as 17 students have scored 100 marks out of 100 in various subjects.
