BJP leader KS Eshwarappa accused Siddaramaiah, former chief minister of having a caste mindset.
“Mr. Siddaramaiah believes in and practices caste politics. He has benefited by playing OBC politics. What did the Kuruba community gain after Mr. Siddaramaiah became Chief Minister? The community has not developed. Only Mr. Siddaramaiah has grown in State politics. Both of us may be from the same community, but I am not a Kuruba leader. I am a nationalist leader while Mr. Siddaramaiah is a casteist leader”, Mr. Eshwarappa said. “Caste politics is the only thing he knows. He has not helped other Kuruba leaders such as G. Shankar. He has, in fact, betrayed them. In this election, he has given ticket to Kuruba candidates where they are bound to lose”, he claimed. Mr. Eshwarappa spoke to the press before going to Chikkodi to be present while party nominee Annasaheb Jolle submitted his papers for nomination.
He also said that, “Leaders such as Mr. Siddaramaiah and L.R. Shivarame Gowda accuse the BJP of communal politics. But they indulge in caste politics in Mandya. People will teach such leaders a fitting lesson”. Mr. Eshwarappa claimed that after the Lok Sabha polls Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) MLAs who were unhappy with the government of the coalition would resign.
