Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has alleged that the Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Krishi Samman Nidhi was not helpful to farmers in Karnataka.
Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, Mr. Kumaraswamy said the State government had already submitted documents related to 13 lakh farmers of the State to the Centre. However, so far only 17 farmers had received benefits under the scheme. “Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is accusing the State of not furnishing the details. He is making a false statement,” he said.
The CM said the State government had announced a farm loan waiver that would benefit 44 lakh farmers in the State. Many have already got loan clearance certificates. “Now we are seeking votes in the election citing our development works,” he said.
Regarding JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda contesting the election, he said his constituency would be finalized on Saturday. “We are hopeful that if he contested for Bengaluru North, it would help neighboring Kolar and Chickballapur constituencies. However, workers in Tumakuru want him to contest from there,” he said.
Later speaking at the rally, Mr. Kumaraswamy appealed to the workers to treat Prajwal Revanna as family and work for his victory in the election. He also criticized the BJP, with regard to the alleged diary of former CM B.S.Yeddyurappa. “Just now I received the information about a report published in a magazine about the diary of Yeddyurappa. When he was the CM, he sent a huge amount of money to his party leaders. This is their contribution,” he said.
