Relating to the investigation being conducted into Mangaluru airport bomb planting allegation against Adithya Rao, the police have completed formalities except the brain mapping.
The police have prepared charge sheet in the case for which the deputy commissioner has given nod. The state government is yet to approve it.
Adithya needs to be taken to Bengaluru for brain mapping formality. For getting the government’s approval for the charge sheet too, the police have to visit Bengaluru. Because of lockdown rules in force, these two things could not be got done so far. Police sources said that a request to extend the deadline for filing charge sheet has been moved.
The sources also said that once lockdown is lifted, the brain mapping of the accused can be got done, and the charge sheet can be got approved from the government.
Adithya has been charged with leaving a bag containing an improvised explosive device near the ticket counter of the terminal building of the airport after which he had boarded an auto-rickshaw and escaped. The police have already produced him in the court, taken him into police custody, interrogated him, besides conducting identity parade.
