Anti encroachment drive

BBMP officials who headed to demolish encroachments over storm water drain (SWD) by White House Apartments on Friday had to return back after the representatives of the apartment got High Court’s direction for joint-survey.

Ms Krittika Shankar, committee member of White House Apartment Association she said “Our representatives knocked at the doors of High Court and have got time till Feb 1st. We will figure out our next course of action before that time.”

Mr Basavarajappa, executive engineer of BBMP East zone said “According to the survey carried out by the office of Joint Director of Land Records (JDLR), White House Apartments have encroached 9.5 guntas of SWD. But residents are not ready to accept this amount of encroachment.”

He stated that the representatives of the association have demanded joint-survey and added “The court has directed for joint-survey. JDLR will take up joint survey in the presence of representatives of the association.”

BBMP chief engineer Storm water drains, Mr Siddegowda said that demolition drive will continue and will not be halted at any cost. He further maintained that no big or small will be spared from encroachment drive, if their piece of land is sitting over SWD.

Voluntary Demolition at Patel’s Inn

Asked on the status of demolition at Patel’s Inn, Mr Basavarajappa said that the representatives requested the civic body that they will demolish the encroached portion by themselves.

“Patel’s Inn has encroached 6.5 guntas of SWD. They felt that if the civic body demolishes the encroachment it may damage other structures too. So they have taken up the demolition voluntarily.”

Anti-encroahement drive at Yelahanka zone continues

At Anantapur, falling under Yelahanka BBMP zone, works were on to clear encroachments by open fields over 2 acres 1 guntas of SWD. Anti-encroachment drive continued on Friday at Kogilu Main Road, Jakkur, which has 40 open fields encroaching SWD.
