One more actor with a Bollywood lineage is all set to be launched in the film industry. Late actor Amrish Puri’s grandson Vardhan Puri will soon make his Bollywood debut. As per a report by Mumbai Mirror, the actor will star in a romantic thriller produced by Jayantilal Gada.
Vardhan is a theatre actor, having worked in plays since he was a teenager. He has also been an assistant director for movies like Daawat-e-Ishq and Shuddh Desi Romance. The actor said in his interview with the daily that he was supposed be launched by Janatilal with a period movie which never took off. Though, the opportunity came his way in form of another film by the producer which will go on floors by September. The movie “will be in a space similar to (Hollywood director David Fincher’spsychological thriller) Gone Girl” as per the actor.
Talking about his idols, Vardhaan names his grandfather, Amrish. He said, “Dadu is the God whom I pray to. I was so close to him that I would sleep between him and my grandmother. When he passed away, for me it was like losing the protective cover of an umbrella. It was then, that I decided that if I do something, it would be for my grandfather and this film is an ode to him,”
Talking about his memories with his grandfather, the actor added, “We would watch films of Dilip Kumar saab, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and also binge on classics like The Godfather and The Shawshank Redemption. Sometimes, I also used to sit with him for reading sessions when filmmakers came home. His films with Shyam Benegal sir and Govind Nihalani sir top my list of all-time favourites. I really miss him,”
Well, the more the merrier. The film industry will always have space for the talented actor. And we are ready to welcome Vardhaan with open arms.
