Bengaluru: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting on Wednesday decided to take a disciplinary action against senior Congress leaders Janardhana Poojary, C K Jaffer Sharief and H Vishwanath for making derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Congress leaders.
Speaking with media persons Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president Dinesh Gundu Rao said the CLP meeting presided by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has taken the decision to act tough against dissident leaders. “The Congress Coordination Committee meeting will decide on what kind of action to be taken against these dissidents for criticizing Congress president Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah,’’ Dinesh Gundu Rao said.
Rao said Congress legislators have demanded disciplinary action against these leaders. “Congress Coordination Committee meeting will decide what action to be taken and when such action to be taken. It will also decide on issuing notices to these leaders,’’ Rao said.
During the CLP meeting held in the morning, some Congress legislators have criticized Congress senior leader Vishwanath for making derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi. “Vishwanath has enjoyed all facilities and positions in Congress as MLA, MP and minister. Now, Vishwanath is commenting against Congress leadership. We are ready to take up the matter with Congress high command if you fail to take action against Vishwanath,’’ one of the Congress MLAs told Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
At this juncture, MLA K N Rajanna and others have demanded KPCC leaders to take action against C K Jaffer Sharief and B Janardhana Poojary for issuing statements criticizing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Congress leaders. “Jaffer Sharief has described Siddaramaiah government as Kuruba government. It conveys a message to party cadre that Congress high command is hesitating to take action against him. Till now no action has been taken against Jaffer Sharief. Congress has suffered ignominious defeat in the by-election held to Hebbal assembly constituency since Jaffer Sharief’s grand-son was Congress candidate. Jaffer Sharief has availed lot of benefits from Congress but instead of being grateful to Congress he has been busy in criticizing Congress leadership,’’ Rajanna said.
A few Congress MLAs wanted KPCC leadership to take stringent action against Janardhana Poojary who made derogatory comments on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. “Poojary has said that Congress will have no future in Karnataka as long as Siddaramaiah continues as Chief Minister. This type of dissident activities facilitated other politicians to make fun of us,’’ a Congress MLA said.
