Congress MLA BK Sangameshwara threatened and abused a forest official for objecting to the construction of temple in Bhadravati.
Bengaluru: In a shocking display of brazen abuse of power and hooliganism, a Congress MLA in Karnataka was caught on camera threatening a forest official, warning that he would “chop off his hands and feet” for objecting to the construction of a temple on forest land.
Karnataka Congress MLA BK Sangameshwara was heard using the choicest of words against the government official and also threatened him against visiting the piece of forest land. The incident pertains to the construction of a temple in the state’s Bhadravati region.
Reportedly, villagers wanted to build a temple in Bhadravati and had also laid the foundation stone on forest land on December 31.
However, a forest official purportedly objected to the construction of the temple and pointed out that permissions were required to be taken prior to the construction of any building on the forest land. Following this, villagers approached MLA BK Sangameshwara and asked for his help.
As per the video of the incident, the MLA called up the forest official and proceeded to abuse and threaten him. Talking to the government officer on phone, the MLA said, “They have conducted rituals here today.
No one should object to the construction here. If they do, I will have their hands or legs chopped off. You don’t seem to understand kind words. I am warning you.” Meanwhile, the Congress party is yet to react to the news of the blatant hooliganism by the party MLA.
It is not yet known if the party, which is in power in the state along with JD(U), will take any action against the erring MLA.
