The petitioner claimed that while watching the promos of the film “The Accidental Prime Minister” he felt very bad. A case has been filed against actor Anupam Kher and the team for their upcoming film, in Bihar court on Wednesday for spoiling the image of the top leaders.
Advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha filed the case in Muzaffarpur’s Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court and the court has admitted the case and fixed the hearing on January 8 in Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate court (West) Gaurab Kamal. He filed a complaint by saying that Anupam Kher who has played the role of ex- Prime Minister “Dr Manmohan Singh” and Akshay Khanna who has played the role of a journalist “Sanjay Baru” in the film have defamed the image of both of them and it feels bad to him and so many others.
Adv Ojha, in his complaint said Actors and actresses who have played the roles of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi – then a national general secretary – and Priyanka Vadra have also defamed their image. He has also filed a complaint against the film director and producer. The movie is set for a release on January 11, on the TV channels and YouTube.
This petition was filed under Indian Penal Code sections 153, 153A, 295, 293, 504 and 120B promoting the enmity between different on grounds of religion, language, etc., intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace
He also claimed that the film projects the country and a host of its political leaders in a very poor light.
