Kartarpur corridor event: Punjab CM declines Pakistan’s invitation, Sidhu accepts

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had invited Capt. Amarinder and Mr. Sidhu to visit Pakistan to attend the ceremony of Kartarpur corridor in Pakistan on November 28.

Citing continued killing of India soldiers and terror attacks in the State, Punjab Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh on Sunday declined Pakistan’s invitation to attend the ground-breaking ceremony of the Kartarpur corridor in Pakistan, his cabinet colleague Navjot Singh Sidhu, however, has accepted the invite.

“Capt. Amaridner Singh declines invite of @SMQureshiPTI @ForeignOfficePk for Kartarpur Corridor Foundation Stone laying. Cites continued killings of Indian soldiers & terror attacks in Punjab. Says will fulfil cherished dream to visit Kartarpur gurdwara once bloodshed stops,” said a tweet posted by his media advisor Raveen Thukral from his official handle.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had invited Capt. Amarinder and Mr. Sidhu to visit Pakistan to attend the ceremony of Kartarpur corridor in Pakistan on November 28.

Mr. Sidhu, meanwhile in a letter to Mr. Qureshi said, ”It is with great honour and unalloyed joy that I accept your invitation to attend the ground-breaking ceremony at Kartarpur Sahib on November 28. I look forward to meeting you on this historic occasion,” he wrote, adding that his application to attend is now lodged with the Ministry of External Affairs.

Mr Sidhu further wrote: ”Good deeds speak for themselves, the hand only interprets their eloquence. Every noble act makes way for itself. On this momentous day the hearts of the Sikh community will overflow with hope and gratitude as they contemplate their chance to pay obeisance at the historical Gurdwara Sahib.”
