The BBMP on Saturday submitted to the Karnataka High Court that 55 unauthorised hoardings have been removed. According to the counsel, there were 1,800 hoardings that have not been removed due to litigation.
A division bench headed by Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari was hearing a PIL seeking directions to remove illegal flexes and hoardings in the city. The BBMP counsel further stated that he would compile a list of the hoardings which were protected by interim orders or injunctions and submit the same to the court.
The BBMP also submitted that the officers had received 1,200 suggestions and objections from the public with regard to the BBMP Outdoor Signage and Public Messaging Bye-laws. The BBMP submitted that the Palike was considering the possibility of conducting a hearing on a set of objections.
After considering the objections and suggestions the BBMP would inform the state government if any modification is required, the counsel added. The court adjourned the hearing of the case to December 1.
