Bengaluru: Former minister Kumar Bangarappa, former legislators J D Nayak, J D Narayanappa and other leaders on Thursday joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at its office situated at Malleshwaram in Bengaluru. Former chief minister and BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa has welcomed these leaders into the BJP.
Speaking on the occasion, former minister Kumar Bangarappa said all Congress leaders in Sorab Assembly constituency have joined BJP. “There are no Congress leaders in Sorab assembly constituency. We have made Shivamogga district free from Congress,’’ Kumar Bangarappa said.
He said Congress party is being disintegrated in the state. “We have joined the BJP to have a stable platform for us to serve the people. We will work to strengthen the BJP in the state,’’ he said.
Criticising Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa for trying to catch fish in troubled waters, he said that some politicians have tried their best to encash disputes within his family. “Former chief minister Yeddyurappa has provided good governance while in power. It made us to join BJP,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, former minister Haratalu Halappa said the BJP would be strengthened with the joining of Kumar Bangarappa. “All of us belong to same group. We will forget our differences and work to strengthen the BJP in Shivamogga district under the guidance of senior BJP leaders,’’ Halappa said.
